## 1. Install the app

Open Navify on the Shopify App Store and click **Install**. Shopify shows what the app can access; approve it and the app opens inside your admin, on **Home**.

The Free plan starts right away. To try Essential, choose it when the app asks for a plan: the first 14 days are free.

## 2. Create your categories

Go to **Categories and tags**. A category says what a place is, such as *Store*, *Reseller* or *Clinic*, and becomes a filter on the map. Every place needs one, so create at least one first.

## 3. Create tags (optional)

On the same screen, use **New tag**. A tag is a label for places of any category, such as *Pickup* or a seasonal promotion. It can have start and end dates, colors, a square icon, the categories it applies to and, on Essential, a promotion link.

## 4. Add your places

**One at a time:** go to **Places** and add a place. It needs a name, a category and at least a street, city or postal code. The address is located on the map in the background; reload after a few seconds.

**From a spreadsheet:** go to **Import and export**, use **Download template**, fill it in and send it back. Categories and tags must already exist with the same name. See [Import places from a spreadsheet](https://navify.tech/help/import-places-from-a-spreadsheet/) for every rule.

## 5. Check the location and publish

The map shows only places that are **published and have a location**. On the **Places** list:

| Location | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Exact | The address was found | Nothing |
| Approximate | The street was found, but not the number | Open the place, drag the pin to the door and use **Mark as checked** |
| No coordinates | Not located yet, or not found | Wait and reload, correct the address, or type the coordinates |

To publish many places at once, select them and use **Publish**.

## 6. Add the blocks to your store

Go to **Storefront and widgets**. There is one tab per block; use any combination.

- **Full locator:** under *Your stores page*, choose a page (or create one in Shopify), save, then use **Add the locator to this page**. The theme editor opens with the block added: click **Save** there, and add the page to your store's menu.
- **Map on page:** use **Add to pages** (or blog posts, or collections) and save in the theme editor.
- **Store near you** (Essential): use **Add to the product page**, drag the block below the buy button and save.

Colors, fonts, list order, filters and what each card shows are set on this same screen, with a preview. The theme editor only positions the block. Details in [Add the blocks to your theme](https://navify.tech/help/add-the-blocks-to-your-theme/).

## 7. Check your store

Open the store in a private window and check that the map shows your published places, that the filters and **Use my location** work, and that the page looks right at phone width.

Changed a place and the store still shows the old data? The map keeps answers for up to 5 minutes. Wait and reload.
